Aktywności społeczno-polityczne Wincentego Pola w Galicji w latach 1832-1848

Wincenty Pol był jednym z najpopularniejszych polskich poetów swoich czasów. Był autorem poetyckich opowieści zwanych gawędami, uznanym naukowcem i pierwszym polskim profesorem geografii. Jak dotąd jednak jeden z najważniejszych aspektów jego działalności nie został uwzględniony w portrecie autora „Mohorta” i w literaturze na temat jego życia. Poezja, listy, monografie naukowe i prasa tamtego czasu pokazują Pola także jako wpływowego polityka, i to nie tylko XIX-wiecznej Galicji. Nie przeprowadzono niezależnych badań dotyczących jego ideologicznej i politycznej drogi, którą podążał. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia najważniejsze wydarzenia z życia Wincentego Pola oraz tło historyczne w okresie między Powstaniem Listopadowym a Wiosną Ludów. Artykuł dzieli życie poety na następujące etapy: dzieciństwo, młodość i edukację, które doprowadziły go do Powstania Listopadowego; od tego momentu autor „Pieśni Janusza” aktywnie uczestniczył w życiu społecznym i politycznym. Artykuł stara się ukazać polityczne wahania Pola, szczególnie gdy zaczął działać jako polityk i martwił się o przeszłość i przyszłość Narodu Polskiego w rzeczywistości podzielonej Polski, a także gdy zaczął interesować się funkcją użytkową technologii, nauki i cywilizacji, które miały służyć Polsce.

The social and political activity of Wincenty Pol in Galicia in the years 1832-1848

Wincenty Pol was one of the most popular Polish poets of his times. He was an author of the poetic tales called in Polish gawęda, a noted scientist and the first Polish Geography professor. So far, however, one of the most important aspects of his activity has not been included in the portrait of the author of “Mohort” and in the literature on his life. The poetry, letters, scientific monographs and the press of that time show Pol as an influential politician as well, and not only of the 19th-century Galicia. No independent research on his ideological and political path which he followed has ever been done. This article presents the most important events of Wincenty Pol’s life and the historical background in the period between the November Uprising and the Spring of Nations. The article divides the poet’s life into the following stages: childhood, youth and education, which led him to the November Uprising; from that moment onwards the author of “Janusz’s Songs” was actively involved in social and political life. The article attempts to show Pol’s political hesitation, especially when he started to be active as a politician and was concerned about Polish Nation’s past and future in the reality of partitioned Poland, and when he also developed an interest in the utilitarian function of technology, science and civilization, which were to serve Poland.

L’activité sociale et politique de Wincenty Pol en Galicie dans les années 1832-1848

Wincenty Pol était l’un des poètes polonais les plus populaires de son époque. Il était l’auteur des récits poétiques appelés en polonais gawęda, un scientifique reconnu et le premier professeur de géographie polonais. Jusqu’à présent, cependant, l’un des aspects les plus importants de son activité n’a pas été inclus dans le portrait de l’auteur de „Mohort” et dans la littérature sur sa vie. La poésie, les lettres, les monographies scientifiques et la presse de l’époque montrent Pol comme un politicien influent également, et pas seulement de la Galicie du XIXe siècle. Aucune recherche indépendante sur son parcours idéologique et politique qu’il a suivi n’a jamais été réalisée. Cet article présente les événements les plus importants de la vie de Wincenty Pol et le contexte historique de la période entre l’Insurrection de Novembre et le Printemps des Nations. L’article divise la vie du poète en les étapes suivantes : enfance, jeunesse et éducation, qui l’ont conduit à l’Insurrection de Novembre ; à partir de ce moment, l’auteur des „Chants de Janusz” a été activement impliqué dans la vie sociale et politique. L’article tente de montrer les hésitations politiques de Pol, en particulier lorsqu’il a commencé à être actif en tant que politicien et s’inquiétait du passé et de l’avenir de la Nation Polonaise dans la réalité de la Pologne divisée, et lorsqu’il s’est également intéressé à la fonction utilitaire de la technologie, de la science et de la civilisation, qui devaient servir la Pologne.
