Ksiądz Wojciech Michna, związany z diecezją przemyską, gdzie pracował w latach 1845–1893, zasłynął jako działacz społeczny, zaangażowany w narodową i gospodarczą aktywizację galicyjskich chłopów, a także jako historyk-amator. Swoje prace publikował głównie w czasopismach skierowanych do niższych warstw społecznych Galicji po 1860 roku. Jako wikary i proboszcz w parafiach położonych na terenie Puszczy Sandomierskiej (w Miechocinie, Pysznicy, Zaleszanach), Michna zetknął się z kulturą grupy etnograficznej zwanej Lasowiakami. Pisał o niej w swoich rękopiśmiennych wspomnieniach zatytułowanych „Dziennik historyczny okolicy i rodzin diecezji przemyskiej”. Jest to jeden z najstarszych opisów mieszkańców Puszczy Sandomierskiej, powstały w latach 1867–1875. Ważną część „Dziennika historycznego” stanowią relacje z powstań XIX wieku, w tym wydarzeń, które miały miejsce w Puszczy Sandomierskiej – miejscu przygotowań do walk powstańczych.

Lasowiacy and the Sandomierz Forest in the Memoirs of the Priest Wojciech Michna

The priest Wojciech Michna, being connected with the Latin Diocese of Przemyśl where he worked as a priest during the years 1845 – 1893, achieved some renown as a community worker involved in the national and economic activation of the Galician farmers as well as a historian –amateur. He published his works mainly in the magazines aimed at the lower classes of society in Galicia after 1860. Being a curate and parish priest in the parishes situated on the area of the Sandomierz Forest (in Miechocin, Pysznica, Zaleszany), the priest Michna came into contact with the culture of an ethnographic group called “Lasowiacy”. He wrote about this group in his manuscript memoirs entitled : The historical Diary of the Area and families of the Przemyśl Diocese. This is one of the oldest accounts of the Sandomierz Forest inhabitants, as it dates from the years 1867-1875. The account of the 19th-century uprisings including the events that took place in the Sandomierz Forest, which was the place of the insurrectionary preparations, are an important part of The historical Diary.

Le prêtre Wojciech Michna, lié au diocèse latin de Przemyśl où il exerça de 1845 à 1893, s’est fait connaître comme travailleur social engagé dans l’activation nationale et économique des paysans galiciens, ainsi que comme historien amateur. Il publiait principalement dans des revues destinées aux classes populaires de Galicie après 1860. En tant que vicaire et curé dans des paroisses situées dans la région de la Forêt de Sandomierz (à Miechocin, Pysznica, Zaleszany), Michna entra en contact avec la culture du groupe ethnographique appelé « Lasowiacy ». Il écrivit à leur sujet dans ses mémoires manuscrites intitulées « Journal historique de la région et des familles du diocèse de Przemyśl ». Il s’agit de l’un des plus anciens témoignages sur les habitants de la Forêt de Sandomierz, datant des années 1867–1875. Une partie importante de ce « Journal historique » concerne les insurrections du XIXe siècle, y compris les événements survenus dans la Forêt de Sandomierz, qui fut un lieu de préparation des soulèvements.
