It contains details about social, cultural, economic, and political life of the inhabitants of „The Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria,” including the poviat of Kolbuszowa.

In 1872, this poviat consisted of 64 cadastral communities and 62 political communities. There were 64,035 people: 31,336 men and 32,699 women. Most of them were Roman Catholics. There were a lot of Jews and a small group of Protestants. The poviat of Kolbuszowa was within the district court’s jurisdiction in Tarnów. There was also a separate tax department and evaluation committee in this poviat.

Self-government comprised the Council of the Poviat in Kolbuszowa and the Department of the Poviat. These institutions conducted inspections of the local government and took care of the community property.
