Artykuł przedstawia stan badań nad przemysłem Puszczy Sandomierskiej do końca XIX wieku.
Notes about the industry of the Sandomierz Wilderness until the end of the 19th century
The article contains the information about the state of the research on the industry of the Sandomierz Wilderness until the end of the 19th century. The best- known history is the one of the ferrous metallurgy. However, in the case of glass production there are a number of unresolved issues such as the continuity of the glassworks in Niwiska between the end of 16th century and the beginning of the 19th century, or the functioning of the glassworks in Jagodnik near Cmolas. Conducting the study of the industry in the 19th century, one faces a problem of the frequent identifying of the actual location of the plant with the place where there was the residence of a landed estate, in which this plant was located (e.g. the glassworks existed in Nowosielec, not in Nisko). The author also draws attention to the geography of the industry of the wilderness, which was characterized by the presence of the centers (mainly by smaller rivers) of a great number of various plants (ironworks, glassworks, sawmills, flour mills etc.). The construction of the railway lines in the vicinity of the Sandomierz Wilderness changed the economic profile of the forest and became the decisive factor for the location of industrial plants.
