Celem czczenia świętych w liturgii jest sakramentalne uczestnictwo wszystkich wiernych w wydarzeniu Chrystusa. Świętości świętych wyraźnie podkreślają ten aspekt, ponieważ podczas zgromadzenia liturgicznego, które jest widocznym współdzieleniem Kościoła, dochodzi do zjednoczenia wspólnoty odkupionych we wszystkich czasach w Chrystusie. Święty Andrzej Apostoł, jeden z pierwszych uczniów Jezusa i brat św. Piotra, zaprowadził do Mesjasza. Zgodnie z tradycjami Ojców Kościoła, św. Andrzej głosił Ewangelię w Scytii, w Pontusie, Kapadocji i Bitynii.
Andrzeja zostało zarejestrowane przede wszystkim w liturgicznych tekstach dawnych tradycji hiszpańskich i galickich.
“I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations” (Ps 45[44],17). The intercession of St Andrew the Apostle according to the Missal of Western Church
The aim of veneration of the saints in the liturgy is the sacramental participation of all believers in the Christ event. Feast days of the saints clearly highlight this aspect, as during the liturgical assembly, which is visible communion of the Church, there is the union of the community of the redeemed of all time in Christ. St Andrew the Apostle, one of the first disciples of Jesus and St Peter’s brother, from the beginning of the existence of the Church, has been venerated in a special way. He was the first one called by the Lord, and he brought his brother, St. Peter, to the Messiah. According to the traditions of the Church Fathers, St Andrew preached the Gospel in Scythia, in Pontus, Cappadocia and Bithynia. His martyr’s death on the cross in Patras sealed his evangelizing activity in Achaia.
The Mass texts show St Andrew primarily as an apostle, teacher, guide and advocate. The first of these terms indicate St Andrew as an example of vocation, faith, trust in Christ and perseverance until his martyrdom on the cross. This relationship between the mystery of the cross of Christ and the death of St Andrew’s cross was recorded primarily in the liturgical texts of old Spanish and Gallic traditions. St Andrew, due to his faithful preaching of the good news and his martyred death, well deserved to participate in the triumph of crucified Christ. The intercession of the saint concerns attaining eternal goods, freedom from sin, passion, and above all intercession in achieving eternal goods. A look at the figure of St Andrew through the lens of biblical readings can draw attention to his faith, obedience, and above all to worshipping Christ as God.
