Biblioteki parafialne w okresie staropolskim istniały prawie w każdej polskiej parafii. Zawierały one książki liturgiczne oraz tzw. pro docendopopulo. W wielu przypadkach miały tylko te pierwsze.

Biblioteka parafialna w Osieku Jasielskim zawierała prawie wyłącznie książki liturgiczne niezbędne do odprawiania nabożeństw kościelnych. Jedynym wyjątkiem było dzieło prawne Bartłomieja Groickiego. Pomimo faktu, że był to zbiór typowy dla wielu bibliotek z małych miasteczek lub wsi tamtych czasów, stanowił on dowód na istnienie kultury książki w tej wsi.

Parish libraries in the Old Polish period existed in almost every Polish parish. They included liturgical books and so called pro docendopopulo. In many cases, they had only the first ones.

The parish library in Osiek Jasielski contained almost exclusively liturgical books necessary for holding church services. The only exception was the work of law by Bartłomiej Groicki. Despite the fact that it was a collection typical of many libraries from small towns or villages of that time, it constituted the evidence of book culture in that village.

Bien que ce fût une collection typique de nombreuses bibliothèques de petites villes ou de villages de l’époque, elle constituait la preuve de la culture du livre dans ce village.
