Wyjątkowy rok. Wybrane wydarzenia polityczne i społeczne w powiecie kolbuszowskim w 1956 roku

Artykuł skupia się na sytuacji społeczno-politycznej w powiecie kolbuszowskim w 1956 roku. Powiat ten miał charakter prowincjonalny. Analiza pokazuje, że nastroje niezadowolenia w tej części województwa rzeszowskiego nasilały się od 1955 roku. Na ten proces wpływ miały: audycje Radia Wolna Europa, kampanie informacyjne Stanów Zjednoczonych, XX Zjazd Komunistycznej Partii Związku Radzieckiego (KPZR) (14-25 lutego 1956) oraz tragedia robotników w Poznaniu (28 czerwca 1956).

W wyniku Ósmego Plenum Komitetu Centralnego Polskiej Zjednoczonej Partii Robotniczej (PZPR) (19-21 października 1956) mieszkańcy powiatu kolbuszowskiego otwarcie wystąpili przeciwko partii komunistycznej. Krytykowali jej członków i dotychczasowe osiągnięcia PZPR. Doprowadzili do zmiany pierwszego sekretarza Komitetu Powiatowego PZPR w Kolbuszowej. 31 października członkowie partii wybrali na to stanowisko Michała Hawro.

Mieszkańcy powiatu kolbuszowskiego zlikwidowali gospodarstwa spółdzielcze. Jednak wszyscy zaufali pierwszemu sekretarzowi PZPR Władysławowi Gomułce. Na jego prośbę poparli wszystkich kandydatów partii komunistycznej w wyborach do Sejmu PRL (20 stycznia 1957).

A special year. Selected political and social events in the district of Kolbuszowa in 1956

The article is focused on social and political situation in the district Kolbuszowa in 1956. This district had a provincial character. The analysis shows that the mood of discontent in this part of the province of Rzeszów, has increased since 1955. Influenced on this process had: broadcasts of Radio Free Europe, information campaigns of United States, the XX Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union [KPZR] (14-25 February, 1956) and tragedy workers in Poznań (June 28, 1956).

As a result of the Eighth Plenum of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party [PZPR] (19-21 October, 1956) people from district Kolbuszowa acted openly against the communist party. They criticized its members and previous achievements of the PZPR. They led to change the first secretary of the District Committee of the PZPR in Kolbuszowa. October 31 members of party selected Michał Hawro on this position.

People from district Kolbuszowa liquidated co-operative farms. However, all people trusted the first secretary PZPR Władysław Gomułka. According to his asking they supported all candidates of the communist party during the elections to the Sejm PRL (20 January, 1957).
