Szkoła Powszechna w Kroszynie koło Baranowicz 1910–1945

Miejscowość Kroszyn, położona na polskich Kresach Wschodnich, sięga swoimi początkami połowy XV wieku. W średniowieczu Kroszyn był rodową siedzibą książąt Kroszyńskich. Na przestrzeni wieków miejscowość ta miała różne polskie i rosyjskie nazwy, zgodnie ze zmieniającą się sytuacją geopolityczną w tych rejonach.

W okresie II Rzeczypospolitej Kroszyn powrócił do Polski; był częścią województwa nowogródzkiego w powiecie baranowickim. Pierwsze informacje o szkole parafialnej w Kroszynie, w diecezji wileńskiej, pochodzą z 1781 roku i dotyczą powstania szkoły. Inne szczegóły pochodzą z 1820 roku, kiedy to inwentarz kościoła parafialnego zawierał informacje, że szkoła została założona w 1810 roku.

W 1910 roku szkoła w Kroszynie otworzyła własny budynek i działała do 1914 roku. W czasie I wojny światowej budynek został spalony. Dopiero w 1920 roku udało się ją ponownie otworzyć, ale w wynajętych pomieszczeniach. Na początku 1928 roku Szkoła Podstawowa w Kroszynie została przejęta przez nowego kierownika – Józefa Świtalskiego, który postanowił prowadzić szczegółową kronikę, dokumentując informacje o nauczycielach i uczniach, którzy byli wychowywani w bardzo patriotycznym duchu, obchodząc poza świętami religijnymi i rocznicami, święta i rocznice państwowe.

Szkoła w Kroszynie miała swoje oddziały w okolicznych wsiach, a jednak edukacja w okresie międzywojennym na Kresach Wschodnich nie obejmowała wszystkich dzieci w wieku szkolnym, ponieważ w szkołach brakowało miejsc. Dlatego w niektórych latach obowiązkowa edukacja była przesuwana na późniejsze lata szkolne dla pewnej liczby dzieci.

Primary School in Kroszyn near Baranowicze 1910-1945

The town of Kroszyn, situated in the Polish Eastern Borderlands, dates back in its origins to the mid-15th century. In the Middle Ages, Kroszyn was an ancestral seat of the Kroszyńscy Dukes. Over the centuries, this town had different Polish and Russian names, according to the changing geopolitical situation in those areas.

During the Second Republic of Poland, Kroszyn returned to Poland; it was part of the province of Nowogródek in the district of Baranowicze. The first information of a parish school in Kroszyn, in the Diocese of Vilnius, comes from 1781, and it is about the creation of the school. Other details come from 1820, where the inventory of a parish church of this year includes the information that the school was founded in 1810.

In 1910, the school in Kroszyn opened its own building and operated until 1914. During the First World War, the building was burnt. It was not until 1920 that it was possible to reopen it, but on the leased premises. At the beginning of 1928, Primary School in Kroszyn was taken over by another manager – Józef Świtalski, who decided to keep a detailed chronicle, recording the details about its teachers and students who were raised in a very patriotic spirit, celebrating, apart from religious feasts and anniversaries, state holidays and anniversaries.

The school in Kroszyn had its branches in the surrounding villages, and yet education in the interwar period in the Eastern Borderlands did not cover all children of school age, as there was not enough space in schools. Therefore, in some years compulsory schooling was shifted to later school years for a certain number of children.
