Galicja w pierwszej połowie XIX wieku w świetle quasi przewodnika turystycznego Hipolita Stupnickiego

W tym artykule przybliżono zawartość książki galicyjskiego krajoznawcy Hipolita Stupnickiego (1806-1878) pt. Galicja pod względem topograficzno i geograficzno-historycznym z mapą Galicji, łącznie z obwodem krakowskim i Bukowiną, Lwów 1849.

Z tego obszernego materiału na potrzeby tego artykułu wybrano trzy zagadnienia. Pierwsza kwestia dotyczy stosunków wyznaniowych w Galicji połowy XIX wieku na podstawie materiałów statystycznych. Galicia in the First Half of the 19th Century Based on Hipolit Stupnicki’s Quasi-Tourist Guide

This article presents the contents of a book by the Galician traveller Hipolit Stupnicki (1806-1878) entitled Galicia in Topographical, Geographical, and Historical Terms, with a Map of Galicia, Including the Cracow Region and Bukovina, Lviv 1849.

Three issues were selected from this extensive material for this article. The first one presents religious relations in Galicia in the mid-nineteenth century based on statistics. The second focuses on the economy of the Galician province. One of the things that make Stupnicki’s findings valuable is the fact that they refer, among other things, to local industrialists and the diversity of professions.

Finally, the article includes comments on the touristic values of Galicia in the mid-nineteenth century. In his concluding remarks, the author proposes to republish this book taking into account scientific apparatus and methods complemented by rich iconographic material.

La Galicie dans la première moitié du XIXe siècle selon le quasi-guide touristique de Hipolit Stupnicki

Cet article présente le contenu d’un livre du voyageur galicien Hipolit Stupnicki (1806-1878) intitulé Galicie sous les aspects topographiques, géographiques et historiques, avec une carte de la Galicie, y compris la région de Cracovie et la Bucovine, Lviv 1849.

Trois sujets ont été sélectionnés à partir de ce vaste matériel pour cet article. Le premier présente les relations religieuses en Galicie au milieu du XIXe siècle, basées sur des statistiques. Le deuxième se concentre sur l’économie de la province galicienne. Ce qui rend les découvertes de Stupnicki précieuses, c’est notamment le fait qu’elles se réfèrent, entre autres, aux industriels locaux et à la diversité des professions. Enfin, l’article comprend des commentaires sur les valeurs touristiques de la Galicie au milieu du XIXe siècle. Dans ses remarques finales, l’auteur propose de republier ce livre en tenant compte de l’appareil scientifique et des méthodes, complétés par un riche matériel iconographique.
