Założony w 1569 roku Sokołów Małopolski przez kilka wieków był miejscem zamieszkania dwóch społeczności: katolickiej i żydowskiej. Miasto było siedzibą Żydowskiej Gminy Wyznaniowej i żydowskiego okręgu rejestracyjnego. Szczególną funkcję w tym okręgu pełnił urzędnik określany jako osoba zajmująca się rejestrami izraelskimi. Pełnił on urząd w Urzędzie Stanu Cywilnego i jego zadaniem była odpowiedzialność za rejestry. Established in 1569, Sokołów Małopolski was for a few centuries the place of residence of the two communities: the Catholics and Jews. The town was the seat of the Jewish Religious Community and the Jewish registry district. A special function in this district was performed by an official referred to as the one who dealt with Israeli registers. He held office in the Registry Office and his task was to be responsible for registers. The article discusses the rivalry for this position between Leon Kaufman and Izrael Margulies at the end of the 1920s and the beginning of the 1930s.

Fondé en 1569, Sokołów Małopolski fut pendant plusieurs siècles le lieu de résidence de deux communautés : les catholiques et les juifs. La ville était le siège de la Communauté Religieuse Juive et du district d’état civil juif. Une fonction particulière dans ce district était exercée par un fonctionnaire appelé celui qui s’occupait des registres israélites.
